Veteran Indian bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, aged 36, has performed exceptionally well in the IPL 2026 season with Royal Challengers Bangalore, dismissing talks of a national team return. Despite grabbing 21 wickets and being a key player for RCB, Bhuvneshwar no longer sets long-term goals due to past disappointments.
Bhuvneshwar, who has been urged by former cricketers for an India comeback, remains content with his current career status. He emphasized that his achievements in cricket are a result of his hard work over the years, acknowledging both good and bad phases.
Reflecting on his cricket journey, Bhuvneshwar credited his natural ability to swing the ball for his success, starting from his U-15 days in Uttar Pradesh. He highlighted the importance of simplicity and execution in his tactical approach during different phases of a T20 match.
The bowler, known for his skill and control rather than sheer pace, finds not being an express bowler advantageous. Bhuvneshwar’s strategic bowling approach in powerplay, middle overs, and death overs revolves around simplicity and confidence, maintaining consistency throughout.
Bhuvneshwar also mentioned that not playing international cricket has allowed him to manage his workload effectively, providing ample time for recovery and other activities post-IPL matches.
