The Bihar Vigilance Investigation Bureau apprehended a clerk at the Dhanrua Circle Office in Patna district for allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 to handle a Jamabandi application. The accused, identified as Shailesh Kumar, had been working at the office for three years. A complaint was lodged on June 17, 2026, by Rajkumar, stating that the clerk demanded the bribe for processing his land’s Jamabandi.
Vigilance DSP Asif Rafiq Mehdi confirmed that a special team was formed by the Bureau following the complaint. The team conducted a raid and caught Shailesh Kumar red-handed during the bribe transaction. The complainant, Rajkumar, mentioned facing prolonged harassment by the clerk regarding the land record work.
After the arrest, a case was filed against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and legal actions were initiated. Local residents at the scene expressed their reactions, alleging similar misconduct by the clerk towards others. The police assured that these claims would be investigated as part of the ongoing probe.
