Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar revealed that milk production committees have been set up in 25,593 villages in the state, with plans to cover the rest within two years. This initiative falls under the ‘Saat Nischay-3’ program, focusing on agricultural progress and state prosperity.
The aim is to enhance the dairy sector and ensure fair prices for livestock farmers. Currently, 25,593 out of 39,073 villages have these committees, and the remaining villages will have them established by the Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Resources Department within the next two years.
This move is expected to boost livestock farmers’ incomes and increase milk availability across Bihar. Additionally, steps are being taken to expand the dairy network, with Sudha milk sales centers already operational in all blocks of the state under ‘Seven Resolutions–2’.
Under ‘Seven Resolutions–3’, the government plans to establish Sudha milk sales centers in every panchayat. Presently, 100 out of 8,053 panchayats have these centers, with instructions to open centers in the remaining 7,953 panchayats by the end of the financial year 2026–27.
The Chief Minister also announced that Jeevika Didis under the Chief Minister’s Women Employment Scheme will be given priority in the allocation of new Sudha milk sales centers in panchayats. This move aims to encourage women’s entrepreneurship in rural areas and create employment opportunities.
Expanding the dairy sector is expected to generate employment, boost incomes, ensure milk and dairy product availability, and strengthen the rural economy. This initiative is seen as a step towards bringing prosperity to the people of Bihar.
