The Bihar Police announced that the state has eradicated Maoist influence and witnessed a significant decrease in serious crimes like murder, robbery, and riots. Officials credited this success to stringent policing, technological advancements, and ongoing anti-crime efforts. Director General of Police Vinay Kumar highlighted that Bihar is now free from Naxalism, with no districts affected.

In the past year, law enforcement in Bihar made 220 Maoist arrests and engaged in an encounter resulting in one Maoist fatality. Notably, murder cases decreased by 7.72%, while robbery and riot incidents saw declines of 24.87% and 17.97%, respectively. The police attributed these improvements to targeted policing strategies and preventive measures statewide.

The Bihar government’s accomplishments included the arrest of 3.35 lakh individuals involved in serious crimes such as murder, robbery, dacoity, rape, and kidnapping. Additionally, authorities seized assets from 70 criminals, identified property belonging to 1,419 offenders for confiscation, and forwarded 405 asset confiscation cases to court. DGP Kumar emphasized the importance of financially weakening organized crime networks through these actions.

The state implemented the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) extensively, taking preventive measures against 12.50 lakh individuals under Section 126 to thwart potential criminal activities. Enforcement of prohibition laws remained strict, resulting in the seizure of 16.79 lakh liters of country liquor and 16.51 lakh liters of foreign liquor. Bihar also addressed cybercrime challenges by investigating 103 cases and taking appropriate action based on digital evidence.

To enhance women’s safety, Bihar formed an “Abhaya Brigade” and plans to acquire 2,000 scooters for women police personnel. These officers will be stationed at various locations to ensure swift responses to incidents. The initiative aims to bolster women’s security and improve overall safety in the state. Senior police officials reiterated the government’s commitment to crime control, mafia crackdowns, and public safety as top priorities, with a focus on enhancing policing effectiveness through transparency and technology.
