Bihar made history in the Vijay Hazare Trophy Plate League opener by scoring a remarkable 574/6 against Arunachal Pradesh, setting a new record for the highest team total in List A cricket. This surpassed the previous record of 506/2 set by Tamil Nadu in the same tournament.
The outstanding performance was fueled by Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s explosive 190, complemented by captain Sakibul Gani’s unbeaten 128 and Ayush Loharuka’s fluent 116. These contributions led Bihar to a record-breaking total in a commanding batting showcase.
Suryavanshi’s century off 36 balls made him the youngest centurion in List A cricket history. His rapid century ranks as the second-fastest by an Indian man in List A cricket, following Anmolpreet Singh’s 35-ball century last season.
Suryavanshi’s aggressive batting saw him reach 150 off just 54 deliveries before eventually being dismissed for 190 off 84 balls. He played a pivotal role in Bihar’s dominant total, forming crucial partnerships and setting the stage for an imposing score.
The onslaught continued as Ayush contributed with a fine 130-run partnership for the third wicket alongside Piyush Kumar Singh, who narrowly missed his half-century by two runs. Skipper Gani further accelerated the scoring, achieving the third-fastest century in List A cricket with a 32-ball hundred, remaining unbeaten on 128 off 40 balls, including 10 fours and 12 sixes.
