The BJP’s West Bengal unit has accused anti-social elements linked to the Trinamool Congress of posing as BJP workers and brandishing party flags during post-election violence across the state. The party emphasized its zero-tolerance policy towards any actions that disrupt law and order. The BJP warned that individuals resorting to impersonation, intimidation, or vigilante behavior would face severe legal repercussions.
The BJP asserted that the recent election results in West Bengal reflected a public desire for change and an end to a period characterized by a blend of criminality and governance. The incoming government, as per the BJP, is dedicated to reinstating the rule of law, ensuring accountability, and safeguarding every citizen impartially. The party vowed to uphold law and order without compromise, denouncing violence, intimidation, and political deceit.
Earlier, BJP’s West Bengal president and the outgoing Leader of the Opposition in the state assembly issued similar cautions against post-election violence incidents. The Election Commission of India has instructed the state authorities to handle post-poll violence strictly and take necessary actions against the perpetrators. West Bengal’s Director General of Police reported that 200 FIRs have been lodged and 433 individuals arrested in connection with post-election violence since the announcement of the Assembly election results on May 4.
