BJP Karnataka President, B.Y. Vijayendra, criticized Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar for his involvement in the Bidadi Township Project and FIRs against farmers. Vijayendra alleged that the Chief Minister’s support for a second Bengaluru airport in Kanakapura and the Bidadi Township Project were strategic decisions.
Vijayendra accused the government of intimidating farmers through FIRs after protests during a land survey for the proposed township project. He criticized CM Shivakumar for prioritizing real estate interests over farmers’ welfare, urging a focus on North Karnataka’s development.
The BJP leader emphasized the importance of respecting farmers’ wishes and suggested locating the second Bengaluru airport between Bengaluru and Tumakuru for broader benefits. Vijayendra highlighted the need for balanced development across Karnataka, beyond just focusing on Bengaluru.
