BJP leader Dilip Ghosh, contesting from Kharagpur, criticized Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for weakening constitutional bodies and promoting lawlessness in the state. Ghosh highlighted instances where the state government challenged central authorities and disregarded legal directives, emphasizing the need for uniform adherence to the law.
Ghosh also mentioned the Malda case, alleging political protection and irregularities in the state. He pointed out the sudden activity of authorities when faced with investigations by agencies like the CBI or ED, raising questions about the arrested individual’s connections with Banerjee. The leader expressed concerns about voter list discrepancies and the presence of fake voters in Bengal, attributing these issues to the state’s governance.
Furthermore, the Malda case has escalated, prompting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar to transfer the investigation to the National Investigation Agency. Following severe criticism from the Supreme Court regarding the hostage situation involving judicial officials in Malda, the Election Commission was directed to engage central agencies for a thorough inquiry and ensure the safety of officers involved.
