Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and Madhya Pradesh Urban Development Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya hinted at the possibility of a third candidate winning in the upcoming Rajya Sabha elections. The BJP recently announced Tarun Chugh and Rajnish Agrawal as its candidates for the elections, while the Congress nominated Meenakshi Natarajan.
Vijayvargiya expressed gratitude towards the BJP leadership for selecting the two candidates and stated that if a third candidate is fielded, the party would ensure their victory as well. He highlighted the contributions of the chosen candidates to the party over the years.
The BJP’s numerical strength in the 230-member Madhya Pradesh Assembly has become a focal point following Vijayvargiya’s comments. With 165 MLAs, the BJP could potentially secure a third candidate with its surplus votes, as 58 MLAs are needed for a Rajya Sabha seat.
Political analysts suggest that the BJP might be considering various options for the elections, even though the current numbers favor a two-BJP, one-Congress outcome. The possibility of a third BJP candidate entering the race has kept speculation alive as the nomination deadline approaches.
