BJP leaders, including Bimal Gurung of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, praised Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s promise to address Gorkha problems within six months if the party wins the West Bengal Assembly elections. Shah made this commitment during a rally in Darjeeling on the eve of the first phase of polling. He emphasized the need to bring satisfaction and happiness to the Gorkha community by resolving their issues promptly.
Bimal Gurung, the founder and President of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, lauded Shah’s speech, stating that it exceeded their expectations. Gurung highlighted Shah’s focus on addressing various challenges faced by the Gorkhas, including issues related to women, youth, infrastructure, and healthcare. He urged the Gorkha community to support the BJP in the elections, emphasizing the party’s commitment to their welfare.
Raju Bista, the BJP MP from Darjeeling, expressed gratitude to Amit Shah for acknowledging the problems in the ‘Dooars’ region. He praised Shah for his understanding of the Gorkha community’s issues, describing it as a significant moment for the people. Bista criticized the current state government for alleged corruption and illegal infiltration, expressing confidence that the BJP would bring positive changes if elected.
Neeraj Zimba Tamang, a BJP MLA from Darjeeling, echoed similar sentiments, appreciating Amit Shah’s assurance to address the longstanding Gorkha problems in alignment with the community’s aspirations. Tamang expressed hope that a BJP government would fulfill its commitments to the Gorkha population, emphasizing the importance of resolving their issues effectively.
