Launching a strong criticism against the Congress-led state government in Karnataka, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders from Dalit and oppressed communities held a press conference in Bengaluru. They accused Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of being deceptive in announcing internal reservation. The leaders, including Govind Karjol and Chalavadi Narayanaswamy, questioned the basis of the government’s decision and its impact on the marginalized communities.
Former Deputy Chief Minister Govind Karjol condemned the Karnataka government’s move on internal reservation, likening it to a futile effort. He directly targeted Siddaramaiah, labeling him as a master deceiver. Karjol accused the Chief Minister of prioritizing political gains over the welfare of the people, especially those from AHINDA communities.
Karjol demanded clarity from Siddaramaiah regarding the rejection of a report recommending 17% reservation by Justice Nagamohan Das. He questioned the government’s decision-making process and criticized the Chief Minister for what he perceived as self-congratulatory behavior. The BJP leader raised concerns about the shelving of various reports and accused the state government of disregarding expert recommendations.
Accusing the government of favoritism and neglecting multiple expert reports, Karjol defended the previous BJP-led administration’s approach to reservation. He highlighted the scientific considerations behind the earlier reservation distribution and criticized Siddaramaiah for failing to fulfill promises made in the past. The BJP leader urged the Chief Minister to address the concerns raised by various leaders and to refrain from what he termed as deceptive political tactics.
