The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have emphasized the need to fence the border areas in West Bengal that border Bangladesh. They criticized the Trinamool Congress government, led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, for allegedly sheltering infiltrators. This call for fencing comes after Union Home Minister Amit Shah released a 35-page ‘white paper’ on the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, highlighting delays in border fencing.
Bihar Minister and BJP leader Dilip Kumar Jaiswal highlighted the importance of fencing the Bengal border with Bangladesh. He pointed out the challenges posed by hilly terrain and rivers in some areas that make fencing difficult. Jaiswal stressed that proper fencing is crucial to prevent illegal infiltrators from compromising national security.
The BJP’s document accused the Trinamool Congress of aiding infiltrators by allegedly issuing fake identity cards to build vote banks. Bihar BJP President Sanjay Saraogi supported the ‘white paper’ and criticized the Trinamool Congress for protecting illegal infiltrators. He accused the state government of misusing resources due to illegal infiltration, affecting the people of Bengal.
Saraogi further criticized the Trinamool Congress for allegedly facilitating the entry of infiltrators from Bangladesh into West Bengal. He warned that both the party and Mamata Banerjee would face consequences when the BJP assumes power in the state.
