BJP MLA Byrathi Basavaraj from Bengaluru’s KR Puram faces imminent arrest as the Karnataka High Court denied his anticipatory bail plea in the murder case of rowdy-sheeter Biklu Shiva. The court, led by Justice Sunil Dutt Yadav, revoked the interim protection from arrest previously granted to Basavaraj.
Following the court’s decision, CID officials initiated a search operation to locate the MLA, who is currently absconding. CID sources revealed that Basavaraj might be apprehended soon, as police are on high alert. Earlier, the court had provided Basavaraj with temporary immunity from arrest.
Concerns of Basavaraj potentially fleeing the country led to the issuance of a Look Out Circular (LOC) against him. The CID has collaborated with law enforcement agencies in other states and established special teams to track his movements and ensure his arrest.
The murder of Biklu Shiva took place on July 15 last year in Bengaluru’s Halasuru area. Investigators have gathered crucial evidence against Basavaraj, emphasizing the need for his custodial interrogation to unravel the broader conspiracy behind the murder. Basavaraj faces murder charges and is the fifth accused in the Biklu Shiva case, with an FIR filed against him by the victim’s mother.
