Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajya Sabha MP Sudhanshu Trivedi criticized Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in Lok Sabha, for being missing from his former constituency, Wayanad in Kerala, which is facing severe rainfall and landslides. Trivedi questioned why Gandhi, who represented Wayanad, was absent during a time of crisis in the region. He raised concerns about Gandhi and his sister Priyanka Vadra not being present to support the people of their constituency, especially when Kerala is governed by the Congress.
Heavy monsoon rains have caused devastating landslides in Wayanad, leading to loss of life and property. Despite the ongoing rescue efforts by the Kerala government and central agencies, Trivedi accused the Gandhi siblings of failing to provide assistance to the affected residents. He criticized Rahul Gandhi for his disappearance during this critical period and questioned the Congress leadership’s priorities in addressing the crisis in Wayanad.
Trivedi highlighted that while Gandhi had visited Wayanad after previous disasters for media coverage, his absence during the current calamity raised concerns about his whereabouts. He questioned whether Gandhi was abroad or avoiding public appearances. Trivedi emphasized that Gandhi seemed to only emerge in response to controversial issues, neglecting the immediate needs of the people in Kerala.
