Defending champions Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) and runner-up Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) both earned three points each on the second day of the 41st PSPB Inter-Unit Hockey Tournament in Pune. BPCL now leads the standings with six points from two wins, while IOCL and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) are tied for second place with three points each after Round 2 matches. Engineers India Limited (EIL) is yet to score a point after losing their second consecutive match.
In a thrilling match, BPCL came from behind to defeat ONGC 4-3. After falling behind 0-1 to an early goal by ONGC’s Gurjot Singh, BPCL rallied with goals from Varun Kumar, Tushar Khandekar, and Vishwas G to take a 3-1 lead. Although ONGC narrowed the gap with a goal from Jagwant Singh, BPCL secured the win with another goal from Rajinder Singh, ending the match 4-3.
In the day’s other game, IOCL triumphed over EIL with a 2-0 victory. Goals from Roshan Minz and Sunil Yadav in each half sealed the win for IOCL.
