A bus transporting Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra pilgrims caught fire on the Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Ramban district. Fortunately, all 47 pilgrims aboard the bus managed to escape unharmed. The incident occurred near Karool due to a tire burst as the bus was returning from Darshan.
J&K L-G Manoj Sinha, after reviewing the situation with officials, confirmed the safety of all pilgrims. The bus, carrying pilgrims from Rajasthan, was en route from Srinagar to Jammu when it caught fire. Authorities promptly responded to the scene, evacuating all occupants, including the driver and conductor, before the flames engulfed the vehicle.
No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident, and normal traffic flow on the highway was restored after the firefighting operation. The annual pilgrimage, SANJY-2026, which began on July 3, has seen over 3.50 lakh devotees participating in the Yatra. The pilgrimage will conclude on August 27, coinciding with the Shravan Purnima and Raksha Bandhan festivals.
