The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has officially assumed control of the investigation into the suspicious death of a NEET aspirant in Patna. This development, marked by the registration of the case as a special one (Case No. 7S/26), signifies the transfer of the probe from the Bihar Police to the central agency. With the CBI’s involvement, the investigation is anticipated to gain momentum as senior officials from the CBI’s Bihar unit have departed for Delhi with crucial case-related documents and evidence.
There had been mounting pressure from the public and political circles in Bihar for a CBI inquiry to ensure a fair and transparent investigation into the sensitive case. Responding to these demands, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had formally recommended a CBI probe, which was subsequently approved by the Government of India. Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary publicly confirmed the state government’s recommendation for a CBI investigation, emphasizing the commitment to ensuring justice in the matter.
Following the NEET aspirant’s demise under suspicious circumstances at a Patna hostel on January 6, and subsequent passing on January 11, concerns arose over the local police’s handling of the case. Allegations of murder or conspiracy surfaced, prompting calls for a thorough investigation. Now, with the CBI taking charge, hopes are high that the truth surrounding the NEET aspirant’s death and the involvement of relevant parties will be uncovered.
The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and post-mortem reports have indicated the possibility of sexual assault, with the FSL report confirming the presence of male semen on the deceased’s undergarments. These findings have further fueled demands for a comprehensive and unbiased investigation into the incident.
