Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis commended the police department and judiciary for their swift action in the case of a 65-year-old man sentenced to death for the brutal assault and murder of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl in Nasrapur, Pune district. The accused was convicted just 55 days after the crime, with the court awarding a triple death sentence on June 29. Fadnavis highlighted the exemplary speed of the trial, with 55 witnesses examined in 29 days to secure the conviction.
Expressing gratitude, Fadnavis acknowledged the special fast-track court for its efficiency in delivering justice. He emphasized the importance of timely justice in deterring such crimes and commended the judiciary for setting a groundbreaking precedent. The Chief Minister also praised the Pune Rural Superintendent of Police (SP) Sandip Singh Gill and his team for their meticulous evidence collection, which played a crucial role in securing the death sentence.
Fadnavis stressed the significance of the swift verdict as a clear signal of the state’s zero-tolerance policy towards crimes against women and children. He expressed satisfaction with the court’s decision, stating that perpetrators of such heinous acts have no place in society. The Chief Minister extended his heartfelt gratitude to the court for delivering a triple death sentence, providing some solace to the victim’s parents amidst their grief.
