The impact of the cold wave and severe cold is escalating in Rajasthan, with government officials confirming the situation on Monday. School holidays have been prolonged in three additional districts – Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh, and Bundi – due to the persistent low temperatures. District Collector Khushal Yadav’s directive mandates the closure of all government and private schools for Classes 1 to 8 from January 6 to 10, while classes 9 to 12 will operate normally.
In response to the cold wave, District Collector Manju has ordered the shutdown of all schools for nursery to Class 5 students from January 6 to 12. Students in classes 6 to 12 will have adjusted timings from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additionally, a two-day holiday has been announced in Bundi district due to the prevailing cold conditions.
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning that severe cold conditions will persist for the upcoming week. Cold wave alerts have been issued for Alwar, Jaipur, Churu, Sikar, and Jhunjhunu for Tuesday, with a yellow alert in place from January 7 to 8 for Churu, Sikar, Jhunjhunu, Alwar, and Jaipur. Authorities have urged parents and schools to stay vigilant and adhere to official instructions to ensure the safety of students.
