After the death of a 19-year-old female student, allegedly due to ragging and sexual harassment at her college, the college administration has defended the accused professor. The deceased, Pallavi, was not enrolled as a student for the current academic year after failing three subjects in her first year.
The incident, which occurred in Dharamshala, has sparked widespread outrage and raised concerns about the college and police response. Police have filed an FIR against four female students and a college professor in connection with the case.
The victim’s family has criticized both the college authorities and the police for their handling of the situation. Serious allegations of ragging, sexual harassment, and mental torture have emerged following Pallavi’s death.
The college administration has clarified that Pallavi was not a current student due to academic reasons. The victim’s father has expressed dissatisfaction with the college, police, and societal attitudes, alleging mistreatment and torture that led to his daughter’s tragic end.
College officials have maintained a zero-tolerance policy on ragging and have supported the accused professor, denying the allegations against him. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has also joined the discussion, questioning the actions of the police and college administration in the case.
