The Congress has intensified its criticism of Kerala’s ruling Left party, alleging a covert alliance between the CPI-M and the BJP in various constituencies before the upcoming Assembly elections. Leader of the Opposition V. D. Satheesan claimed that there are undisclosed agreements in places like Manjeswaram, Konni, and Ranni where the two parties are reportedly collaborating. The Congress General Secretary, Organisation, K. C. Venugopal, accused the CPI-M, led by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, of having a tacit understanding with the BJP.
Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala supported the allegations, pointing to instances like the constituency represented by state Devaswom Minister V. N. Vasavan, where the BJP allegedly did not field a strong candidate. The Congress has persistently pushed the narrative of a secret pact between the BJP and CPI-M, aiming to gather minority and anti-BJP votes by portraying the Left as unreliable in countering the saffron party. The accusations have become a focal point of the election campaign in Kerala, intensifying the political rhetoric in the run-up to the polls.
