Congress Member of Parliament Manickam Tagore criticized the DMK for its alleged intolerance towards coalition partners seeking a fair share in governance and power. Tagore highlighted the contrast between the DMK’s “centralized mindset” and the inclusive approach of the United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala. He praised the UDF model for sharing power rather than concentrating it, emphasizing friendship and participation as its core principles.
In his social media posts during Pongal, Tagore emphasized the importance of coalition politics based on shared power and responsibility. He commended the UDF for contesting elections together with allies and maintaining partnerships post-elections. Tagore pointed out that the UDF allocates ministerial positions based on consensus and accountability, not dominance, citing examples of effective governance by coalition partners in Kerala.
Tagore highlighted the collective decision-making process in Kerala’s UDF governments, emphasizing the respect for social and political diversity. He rejected criticisms from DMK supporters, defending Congress workers’ demand for a fair share in governance. Tagore also recalled the Congress’ loyalty to the DMK during the 2016 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, refuting accusations of ingratitude and emphasizing the importance of responsible communication on social media platforms.
