Congress President Mallikarjuna Kharge kicked off the United Democratic Front’s (UDF) election drive in Kerala, emphasizing a crucial battle to give power back to the people. Speaking at a rally in Kozhikode, Kharge criticized both the ruling Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the BJP, alleging a hidden understanding between them.
Kharge accused the LDF and BJP of collaborating indirectly, suggesting that voting for the CPI(M) is indirectly supporting the BJP. He pointed out the BJP’s strategic absence of strong candidates in various constituencies, hinting at a political strategy to keep the UDF away from governance. Kharge stated that Kerala is united in seeking change after a decade of Left rule.
Highlighting the failures of the LDF government, Kharge questioned their performance in managing Kerala’s economy, citing escalating debt, unemployment, and social challenges. He criticized the development model that prioritized liquor outlets over social welfare programs. Kharge also raised concerns about the state’s increasing debt burden and deteriorating public healthcare system.
