The Union Ayush Ministry initiated a 32-day countdown to the International Day of Yoga 2026 in Kerala with a special program on women’s health. Conducted by experts from the Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, the program titled “Yoga for Menopause – A Holistic Wellness Module” was hosted by the Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) Kalathipady. The event emphasized the significance of yoga and Ayurveda in supporting women’s health during menopause for overall well-being.
The program included sessions on integrating Ayurvedic principles, classical yogic practices, pranayama, relaxation techniques, and mindfulness-based interventions tailored for menopausal wellness. It shed light on menopause as a natural phase marked by hormonal, emotional, and metabolic changes, illustrating how yoga can aid in physical comfort, emotional balance, stress reduction, improved sleep, and enhanced quality of life. Participants were introduced to gentle yogic practices and pranayama techniques known for promoting nervous system balance and mental well-being.
Moreover, the program incorporated Ayurvedic insights on Vata imbalance and dhatu kshaya, emphasizing supportive dietary and lifestyle practices for holistic wellness. The event was inaugurated by Rt. Rev. Malayil Sabu Koshy, with the presence of distinguished guests and speakers from the YWCA of India, CMS College, and the Kottayam Municipal administration. It highlighted the preventive, promotive, and therapeutic role of yoga in women’s health, aligning with India’s broader vision of integrating traditional wellness systems into community health practices.
