The CPI(M) has criticized the Congress, stating that the housing project promised to Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslide victims remains stagnant even after 100 days since the foundation stone was laid. Allegedly, no progress has been made on the three-acre coffee plantation in Kunnambetta, Meppadi, where the foundation stone was placed during a ceremony attended by Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Despite assurances from Congress, the CPI(M) claims that no construction has commenced, and necessary applications for the project are still pending.
The CPI(M) further alleges that the temporary pavilion set up for the foundation ceremony was dismantled, and besides digging a well, no significant work has been initiated. They assert that the foundation stone event was a mere facade before the elections. The CPI(M) accuses Congress of amassing funds under the guise of rehabilitation, criticizing the delay in the housing project. Congress had pledged 230 houses, but the CPI(M) claims that only 50 houses have been initiated after a year and a half of fundraising.
The controversy has sparked a political clash between the Left and Congress regarding the rehabilitation efforts for the Mundakkai-Chooralmala victims. Both parties are engaged in a war of words over the handling of relief and reconstruction endeavors.
