Kasturi Goswami, daughter of ex-Left Front Minister Kshiti Goswami, along with former NSG Commando Dipanjan Chakraborty and retired CRPF officer Biplab Biswas, joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal. The joining took place at the BJP’s Salt Lake office in the presence of key party members, including West Bengal BJP President Samik Bhattacharya and Leader of the Opposition Suvendu Adhikari.
Kshiti Goswami, a former West Bengal Minister, passed away in 2019. Following his death, one of his daughters, Vasundhara Goswami, had joined the Trinamool Congress and won in the Kolkata Municipal Corporation elections. Now, Kasturi Goswami has also aligned with the BJP, sparking discussions about her potential role in the upcoming state elections.
In a significant move, former NSG Commando Dipanjan Chakraborty and retired CRPF officer Biplab Biswas also joined the BJP. Chakraborty, known for his involvement in public movements, officially became a part of the party. Biswas, a retired CRPF officer with a notable track record in countering Maoist and terrorist activities, also joined the BJP.
During the joining event, the BJP unveiled a book titled ‘Andhar-er Koto Kotha,’ shedding light on what the party terms as ‘Maha Jangal Raj’ in West Bengal. The book aims to highlight instances of law and order issues, corruption, political violence, and administrative shortcomings in the state, presenting them to the public for scrutiny.
