The British rock band Deep Purple has unveiled their latest single ‘Arrogant Boy’ from the upcoming album ‘SPLAT’. The song, characterized by a fast and forceful hard-rock sound, is accompanied by an official performance video released on YouTube. Frontman Ian Gillan revealed that the track revolves around a character named Billy who challenges the elite, expressing his joy in provoking them.
The band has confirmed that the album is set to be launched on July 3, marking another milestone in their illustrious career that spans over five decades. Gillan expressed that the current lineup of Deep Purple embodies a contemporary essence reminiscent of the group’s classic era in the 1970s. The album, produced by Bob Ezrin, known for his work with iconic bands like KISS and Pink Floyd, features their heaviest material in years, recorded live in the studio.
Gillan emphasized that the new songs seamlessly blend with their iconic hits like ‘Highway Star’ and ‘Smoke on the Water’, capturing the essence and spirit of their music from the early 1970s. The album’s central theme, crafted by Gillan, delves into the concept of humanity’s transformation rather than its demise, with more details expected to be revealed before the album’s release. Deep Purple plans to support the album with a global tour in 2026, encompassing 86 shows across 28 countries.
