The Defence Acquisition Council, led by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has given the green light to capital acquisition proposals totaling around Rs 52,000 crore. These proposals aim to enhance the operational capabilities of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The approved acquisitions include anti-drone systems, missiles, kamikaze drones, naval unmanned aerial systems, and high-altitude surveillance platforms.
For the Indian Army, the DAC has sanctioned the procurement of various defense systems such as the AKASH TARANG Anti-Unmanned Aerial Vehicles Electronic Warfare System, Man Portable Anti-Tank Guided Missile systems, and Medium Range Surface-to-Air Missile weapon system. These acquisitions are designed to bolster the Army’s defense capabilities against diverse threats.
Additionally, the DAC has greenlit the procurement of Multi Influence Ground Mine, Naval Shipborne Unmanned Aerial System, and the establishment of a Land Based Testing Facility for electric propulsion systems for the Indian Navy. These acquisitions are expected to enhance the Navy’s operational readiness and surveillance capabilities significantly.
In a move to strengthen the Indian Air Force, the DAC has approved the procurement of Fixed-Wing Based High Altitude Pseudo Satellite, which will provide persistent intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities. These acquisitions are crucial for bolstering the country’s defense preparedness and ensuring national security.
