Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh recently opened the Robotic Orthopaedic System and Maternity Operation Theatre at Cantonment General Hospital in New Delhi. These new facilities, unveiled in the presence of Director General, Defence Estates, Shobha Gupta, aim to enhance healthcare services for residents in the Cantonment and nearby areas. The Robotic Orthopaedic System, a significant technological advancement, promises precise surgical procedures, faster recovery times, and better patient outcomes.
The Defence Estates Director General praised the initiative, emphasizing its role in bolstering healthcare services within cantonment regions and promoting community well-being. The newly introduced Robotic Orthopaedic System is equipped with cutting-edge robotic technology to handle complex orthopaedic cases with increased accuracy and efficiency. Additionally, the Maternity Operation Theatre has been designed to offer safe and comprehensive surgical care for pregnant women.
During the event, a presentation outlined upcoming upgrades at Cantonment General Hospital, including plans for a Dialysis Centre, Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD), ICU enhancements, and laboratory expansion within the next three months. Future developments over the next year will see the addition of facilities like a Paediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU, CT Scan, MRI, Cancer Screening Unit, High Dependency Unit, Multispecialty Ward, and Surgical ICU to further elevate healthcare services.
In a separate update, the Indian Army’s Central Command, Military Hospital, Jabalpur, organized a Mental Health Awareness Programme for Officers and Junior Commissioned Officers of HQ 1 Signals Training Centre. This initiative focused on early detection of mental health issues, effective stress management, healthy sleep practices, and practical coping strategies to address professional and family-related challenges. The interactive sessions emphasized mental resilience as a crucial element of leadership and operational efficiency, marking the beginning of a structured monthly series planned until 2026 to support mental well-being and morale across the leadership spectrum.
