Delhi BJP President, Virendra Sachdeva, expressed approval of the Delhi High Court’s move to consider a petition challenging the discharge of former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and others in the excise policy scam by a lower CBI court. Sachdeva emphasized the importance of truth prevailing despite delays in judicial processes. He highlighted concerns over the lower court’s judgment, particularly regarding the remarks against CBI officials that were stayed by the High Court.
Sachdeva, mentioning criticisms from senior lawyers, pointed out various flaws in the lower court’s ruling. These included the alleged negligence of the Ranjan Gogoi Committee report by the Delhi government, attempts to manipulate public opinion by an accused individual through fake emails, and the purported recovery of a Rs 10 note from the phones of Kejriwal and Sisodia. He also noted the High Court’s decision to allow the Enforcement Directorate’s proceedings to proceed, which he viewed as a reinforcement of the judicial process.
Moreover, Sachdeva highlighted that acquittals by lower courts were not uncommon, citing examples of other leaders like Lalu Prasad Yadav, A. Raja, and Kanimozhi who were initially discharged but later faced severe consequences. He underscored the significance of the ongoing legal proceedings in determining the truth behind the alleged involvement of the Arvind Kejriwal government in the liquor scam, which will be deliberated in the Delhi High Court.
