In preparation for the upcoming festive season and the Holi festival, the Delhi government’s Food Safety Department conducted an enforcement campaign, testing 66 food samples, which included items like paneer, khoya, and pulses. Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh emphasized the importance of systematic food sampling and preventing adulteration to ensure the well-being of the city’s residents. The government’s focus is on maintaining high food safety standards and cracking down on any instances of adulteration to safeguard public health.
During the enforcement drive, a total of 66 food samples were collected, comprising both surveillance and legal samples, to ensure strict adherence to prescribed food safety regulations and to take legal action where necessary. The samples were categorized into various food groups, with special attention given to pulses and related cereal products due to their increased consumption. Inspection teams were deployed to major Khoya and Paneer markets to ensure the quality and safety of dairy products, with strict actions taken against any violations found.
The Health Minister instructed officials to expand inspections beyond markets to densely populated areas where khoya and paneer are locally produced and supplied. Production units in residential clusters are also under close scrutiny to monitor their operations. Furthermore, intensified surveillance is being carried out at Delhi’s border areas and neighboring regions to prevent the entry of adulterated food products into the city. The government’s zero-tolerance policy towards food adulteration aims to guarantee that only safe and high-quality food reaches the public during the festive period.
