As the nation gears up for Republic Day celebrations, the Delhi Metro will kick off its services at 3.00 a.m. on all lines this January 26. Trains will run every 15 minutes from 3.00 a.m. to 6.00 a.m. to ensure smooth travel for commuters heading to Kartavya Path for the festivities. Following 6.00 a.m., the Metro will resume its regular schedule for the day.

Passengers are encouraged to utilize the early morning Metro services to avoid any last-minute inconveniences, especially those making their way to Kartavya Path for the national celebrations. Parking facilities at Metro stations across the network will be fully operational on Republic Day, providing additional convenience to commuters and visitors attending the events in the capital.

Republic Day marks the day when India’s Constitution came into effect on January 26, 1950, signifying the country’s shift from a British dominion to a sovereign democratic republic. This year, India will observe its 77th Republic Day as a national holiday, with flag-hoisting ceremonies, cultural programs, and patriotic events held nationwide.

The Kartavya Path in New Delhi will host the customary grand military and cultural parade, featuring marching contingents from the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Central Armed Police Forces. Various states, Union Territories, and Central ministries will present vibrant tableaux, including a unique ‘battle array’ formation showcasing military units in operational sequence. New units like the Bhairav Light Commando Battalion will be part of this year’s parade.

Preparations are underway in the national capital, with traffic advisories and parade rehearsals in progress. President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council Antonio Costa will grace the celebrations as chief guests, emphasizing the growing ties between India and the European Union. The leaders are also expected to finalize Free Trade Agreement (FTA) discussions the next day.
