Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) Minister Parvesh Verma, along with field staff and maintenance teams, took charge in fixing over 2,000 potholes in Delhi within a single day. The PWD had already addressed 12,762 out of 14,757 identified potholes on PWD roads between January 1 and June 4, 2026, as per official records. To tackle the remaining potholes before the monsoon season, a special drive was initiated on Sunday targeting the repair of more than 2,000 potholes across the city, informed Parvesh Verma.
Parvesh Verma emphasized the PWD’s continuous efforts in addressing pothole complaints and maintaining road conditions throughout the year. With the monsoon approaching, the focus is on ensuring road safety before the rains start. The Minister highlighted the importance of quality, accountability, and long-term durability in road infrastructure, mentioning that many of the potholes being fixed were on older roads where quality standards were not adequately maintained. He stressed the government’s commitment to monitoring and maintaining infrastructure quality for sustained performance.
The special drive undertaken by the Delhi government is part of its pre-monsoon preparedness strategy to enhance road conditions, improve commuter safety, and provide durable infrastructure across the capital. Engineers, field staff, and maintenance teams were mobilized to repair identified potholes promptly, with Parvesh Verma personally overseeing the repair works at various locations. Despite being a Sunday, PWD officials worked diligently to complete the task within the set timeframe.
