In a significant operation, the Delhi Police apprehended a drug peddler named Devender alias Mangal in the capital and confiscated close to 1 kg of marijuana from his possession. Devender, a 35-year-old habitual offender, has a history of involvement in various criminal cases including robbery, theft, and violations under the Arms Act. Acting on secret information, the police team tracked him down and made the arrest around 7:45 PM.
During the search, the police recovered 215 pouches of hydroponic weed, estimated to be 752 grams, from Devender’s possession. He was charged under Section 20 of the NDPS Act, and a case was registered at Nand Nagri police station. Investigations are ongoing to determine the source of the seized contraband, identify the supply chain, and uncover any potential accomplices.
The recent arrest of the drug peddler follows a crackdown on interstate narcotics trafficking where a significant amount of Ganja was seized. The police successfully disrupted a narcotics network operating across states, including Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab. The syndicate was using a rented godown to store large quantities of ganja before distribution to various locations. Just a week prior, 12 drug peddlers, including a Nigerian national, were arrested during an anti-narcotics drive where various drugs were confiscated.
