The departmental inquiry team investigating the alleged misappropriation of donations at Shri Badrinath Dham has concluded its probe and submitted the report to the CEO. Preliminary findings suggest that thefts of devotees’ offerings and valuables occurred on multiple occasions, as detailed in an 18-page report by the four-member inquiry team. Recommendations include enhancing CCTV surveillance in key areas to prevent future incidents.
The inquiry team recovered footage dating back 14 days before the July 2 incident, revealing instances of misappropriation. Due to limitations in the quality and storage capacity of existing CCTV cameras, only a short period of footage could be retrieved. The Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee took swift action on July 7 by suspending a Personal Assistant over alleged irregularities.
The committee had previously set up a four-member panel to conduct an impartial investigation into the matter. Following a show-cause notice issued on July 3, the inquiry panel was tasked with a detailed examination. Subsequent clarifications and the preliminary report confirmed the allegations of irregularities against the suspended official.
