Anurag Singh, the director of “Border 2,” explained the absence of Jackie Shroff and Tabu from the sequel, emphasizing that casting is based on script requirements. He highlighted that casting decisions are driven by the story and characters, not by specific actors. Singh emphasized that the story dictates the casting choices, and actors are selected based on how well they fit the characters.
Sunny Deol’s presence in the film was also discussed, with Singh acknowledging that the ‘Border’ franchise is closely associated with Sunny Deol and filmmaker J P Dutta. Singh expressed that the essence of “Border” lies with Sunny Deol, making his involvement crucial. He emphasized that while writing the script, they felt the character aligning with Sunny Deol, but casting decisions cannot be forced based on personal preferences.
Singh further explained that the casting for “Border 2” was determined by the script, leading them to what they believed was the best casting choice. The film, featuring Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, Diljit Dosanjh, Mona Singh, Sonam Bajwa, Medha Rana, and Anya Singh, was released in theaters on January 23.
