Director Ryan Coogler aimed for his film ‘Sinners’ to resonate like an old blues song, wanting it to stand alone as a complete piece rather than setting up a sequel. Coogler, 39, expressed his excitement to revisit the movie in the future and witness how his perspective on it evolves over time.

In an interview with ‘Empire’ magazine, Coogler shared his approach, stating, “I wanted to make something that’s rich enough to mature properly, so that when I revisit the movie as an older person, it feels like a new experience. That, for me, is the pinnacle.” Coogler drew inspiration from blues music throughout the scriptwriting and filmmaking process.

Proud of the audience’s reception, Coogler acknowledged viewers who have watched ‘Sinners’ multiple times in theaters. He emphasized his satisfaction with creating a standalone film that resonates deeply with viewers, aiming for a lasting impact that transcends the need for sequels.
