Senior Dravidian Movement leader Dr. S. Ramadoss is in discussions to join the DMK-led alliance, according to Tamil Nadu Minister Rajakannappan. This development arises amidst a growing split within the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK), with tensions escalating between Ramadoss and his son, Anbumani Ramadoss, leading to the party operating as two factions.
As the Assembly elections draw near, the Anbumani-led PMK has aligned with the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), potentially paving the way for a realignment by the Ramadoss faction. Speculation heightened after Ramadoss met party members and praised Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s governance during a recent media interaction.
During a DMK consultative meeting in Ramanathapuram district, Minister Rajakannappan confirmed ongoing discussions for Ramadoss to join the DMK alliance. He emphasized the unity needed among alliance partners, such as the MDMK, who have been contesting elections under the DMK’s ‘Rising Sun’ symbol, indicating a strong front for the upcoming polls.
If the talks progress into a formal agreement, it could significantly alter Tamil Nadu’s alliance dynamics, particularly in areas where PMK holds sway.
