The directorial debut of lyricist duo Siddharth-Garima, known for ‘Animal’, titled “Dukaan” premiered at the 4th Yokohama International Film Festival (YIFF). The film was screened in Yokohama, Japan, with a red carpet event on May 2, followed by an official screening at the Betty & Deck Theater on May 4.
The filmmakers expressed their delight at the positive reception from the Japanese audience, emphasizing the significance of being selected for such a prestigious festival. Set in Gujarat, “Dukaan” explores the intricate world of surrogacy, featuring actors like Monika Panwar, Sikandar Kher, Soham Majumdar, Monali Thakur, and a special cameo by Vrajesh Hirjee.
Following the screening, there was a speech and an interactive Q&A session with the audience. During the session, the directors shared insights into the inspiration behind “Dukaan”, highlighting the emotional connection they felt with the theme of surrogacy.
The directorial duo, Siddharth Singh and Garima Wahal, renowned for their work in films like “Kabir Singh” and “Toilet- Ek Prem Katha”, helmed the production of “Dukaan”. The film was produced by A Jhunjhunwala and S.K. Ahluwalia under the banners of Waveband Productions and Kalamkaar Picture Productions.
