Early trends from the counting of postal ballots in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections suggest an initial advantage for the DMK party. Actor-politician Vijay’s Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has also displayed strong early momentum, hinting at a potential shift in the state’s political landscape.
Initial leads based on postal votes indicate that the DMK is ahead in 33 constituencies, with the AIADMK leading in 10 and the TVK in 8 seats. These figures, while preliminary, provide a glimpse into voter preferences as the counting of Electronic Voting Machines progresses across 62 centers.
One notable contest is in Tiruchy West, where a TVK candidate has taken the lead over senior DMK leader K.N. Nehru, signaling a possible challenge to established political heavyweights.
In Coimbatore South, DMK’s V. Senthilbalaji is in the lead, closely followed by the TVK. Additionally, in Gobichettipalayam, veteran leader K.A. Sengottaiyan, who recently joined the TVK from the AIADMK, is also leading, underscoring the new party’s early impact.
