Eight individuals detained for alleged donation misappropriation at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya reportedly lack any prior criminal history, as per sources on Saturday. The accused, with no experience in such thefts, raise questions about the mastermind behind the irregularities. Authorities are now searching for the orchestrator of the embezzlement.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust is set to convene a crucial meeting on Monday to address the resignations of General Secretary Champat Rai and Trustee Anil Mishra. Post-meeting, police plan to interrogate Trust members. Notably, Trustee Anil Mishra and temple official Gopal Rao have not been questioned by the police yet.

Ayodhya police have secured land and bank records of the accused to investigate if the assets are illicit gains. Records of around 20 land parcels owned by the accused and their families have been obtained for verification. The timing of property purchases concerning the accused’s association with the Trust is a key aspect under scrutiny.

Acting on information from the main accused Avinash Shukla, police seized a vehicle on Friday as potential “proceeds of crime.” Investigators also discovered the site where the accused allegedly divided the stolen money among themselves. During police custody, Shukla pinpointed the location where the cash was distributed, involving Anukalp Mishra, Lavkush Mishra, Kamlesh Pandey, and Tinu Yadav.
