The Embassy of Ethiopia, in collaboration with ASSOCHAM, organized a curtain raiser event in New Delhi for the upcoming 4th India–Africa Forum Summit 2026. The event aimed to enhance ties between India and African nations, bringing together African Ambassadors, High Commissioners, Indian ministry representatives, industry leaders, and policy experts.
Ethiopia’s Charge d’Affaires Molalign Asfaw highlighted Ethiopia’s role in advocating Pan-Africanism and bridging Africa with global partners like India. He emphasized Ethiopia’s historical contributions to African unity and multilateral cooperation, shaping collective African engagement globally.
Secretary (Economic Relations) Sudhakar Dalela and Commerce Secretary Rajesh Agarwal reiterated India’s commitment to strengthening economic relations with Africa. They emphasized enhancing trade, investment flows, and cooperation in sectors like infrastructure, digital innovation, and sustainable development. Both speakers underlined Africa’s significance in India’s global engagement strategy.
ASSOCHAM President Nirmal Kumar Minda stressed the growing dynamism in India–Africa economic relations and called for sustained dialogue and private sector engagement. He highlighted the importance of platforms like the India–Africa Dialogue in fostering mutual understanding and driving actionable outcomes.
The dialogue emphasized Ethiopia’s diplomatic leadership in promoting Pan-African ideals and enhancing Africa’s external partnerships, particularly with India. It reinforced the shared vision of building a future-oriented partnership based on economic cooperation, capacity building, and people-to-people connections.
