The Embassy of India in Vietnam has started the process of repatriating the bodies of those who died in the tourist boat accident near Phu Quoc Island. One survivor, Gelle Kishore, is receiving treatment at a Vietnamese hospital and is recovering. The agency responsible for repatriating the deceased has been identified, and the process is now in progress.
The authorized agency will reach out to the families of the deceased on Sunday to obtain the necessary permissions for transporting the bodies back to India. The rescued tourists are set to fly back to India on Sunday, with flight arrangements made by a mobile service provider. Team Andhra Pradesh Bhavan is working closely with the Indian Embassy to support the affected individuals until they safely return home.
The tragic incident, which occurred near Phu Quoc Island, claimed the lives of 15 people, including 10 tourists from Tamil Nadu. The boat, carrying around 32 Indian tourists, capsized while sailing in the waters off Phu Quoc. Vietnamese authorities are investigating the cause of the accident, which turned a leisure trip into a devastating event.
Rescue teams and emergency responders swiftly reacted to the accident, pulling several passengers from the water and providing medical aid. Despite rescue efforts, 15 individuals lost their lives, while survivors received medical attention. Indian authorities, in collaboration with the Embassy in Vietnam, are overseeing relief efforts and supporting the victims’ families during the repatriation process.
