England coach Thomas Tuchel has signed a new contract, keeping him in charge of the team until Euro 2028. Tuchel, a former German player with coaching experience at top clubs like Chelsea and Bayern Munich, took over England’s football team in January last year. Under his leadership, England excelled in the FIFA World Cup 2026 qualifiers, finishing at the top of their group without conceding a goal.
Tuchel expressed his happiness at extending his contract, stating that he has developed a strong attachment to his role. He initially signed a short-term contract for 18 months but decided to continue due to the team’s progress and the special bond formed with the players. Tuchel’s primary goal now is to guide England to victory in the FIFA World Cup, a title they last won in 1966.
England Football Association CEO Mark Bullingham praised Tuchel’s commitment and leadership, emphasizing his suitability for the role. Bullingham highlighted Tuchel’s experience, knowledge, and passion as key assets that give England a strong chance of success in upcoming tournaments. Tuchel’s extension aims to lead England to triumph in the 2026 World Cup, starting their campaign against Croatia on June 17.
