The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has successfully decreased consumer court cases by 46% through a targeted effort to minimize litigation and expedite the resolution of pending cases. Under the “Nidhi Aapke Nikat (NAN)” program, EPFO identified and resolved cases in advance, leading to a significant drop in consumer court pendency from 4,936 to 2,646 cases.
EPFO’s proactive approach includes reaching out to citizens through the NAN program to facilitate quicker grievance redressal. The overall litigation backlog has also decreased, with total cases dropping from 31,036 to 27,639, marking the lowest level of pendency in EPFO. Notably, long-pending cases over 10 years have reduced by 45.4%, from 8,539 to 4,665 cases.
In a separate effort, EPFO conducted a nationwide campaign to address cases pending before Central Government Industrial Tribunals (CGITs) related to disputes on interest payments by employers under the EPF & MP Act, 1952. This initiative saw the disposal of 353 appeals, with ongoing efforts to resolve an additional 650 cases.
EPFO achieved its highest-ever claim settlements in the financial year 2025–26, settling 8.31 crore claims compared to 6.01 crore claims in the previous fiscal year.
