Ethan Nwaneri has been selected to join England’s pre-World Cup training camp in the United States. The young Arsenal player will be part of the senior squad in Florida, alongside other talents like Alex Scott, Josh King, and Rio Ngumoha. England officially announced Nwaneri’s inclusion through their social media channels after manager Thomas Tuchel finalized his 26-man squad for the upcoming tournament.
Nwaneri, who spent the latter part of the season on loan at Olympique de Marseille, had a notable stint at Arsenal with 12 senior appearances. During his time in France, he played 10 matches but faced challenges due to changes in the club’s management. Despite initial success under coach Roberto De Zerbi, Nwaneri’s role shifted after De Zerbi’s departure.
Under the new management of Habib Beye at Marseille, Nwaneri encountered difficulties in securing regular playing time and received criticism for his performance consistency and dedication in training. However, the English coaching staff continues to regard him highly, considering him one of the nation’s most promising young talents.
England’s team will gather in Palm Beach on June 1 to kick off their World Cup preparations with friendly matches against New Zealand and Costa Rica in Tampa and Orlando, respectively. Subsequently, they will head to Kansas City, their tournament base, before commencing their Group L campaign against Croatia in Dallas on June 17. The team will also compete against Ghana and Panama in the group stage matches.
