The government announced that the FASTag Annual Pass has exceeded 50 lakh users, with over 26.55 crore transactions logged in just six months since its introduction. Around 28% of total car transactions on the National Highway network now utilize the FASTag Annual Pass, indicating a growing preference among users.
Region-wise data reveals that Chandigarh leads in usage, representing 14% of total Annual Pass transactions nationwide, followed by Tamil Nadu at 12.3% and Delhi at 11.5%.
Moreover, Bijwasan Fee Plaza in Delhi NCR stands out as the top location, with approximately 57% of car crossings at the plaza using the Annual Pass. This is followed by Mundaka Fee Plaza and Jhinjholi Fee Plaza, both in Delhi NCR and Sonipat, respectively, each registering around 53% of non-commercial vehicle crossings with the Annual Pass.
The Annual Pass, applicable at about 1,150 fee plazas on National Highways and National Expressways, eliminates the need for frequent FASTag recharges by offering a one-time fee payment option of Rs 3,000 for a year’s validity or 200 toll plaza crossings.
This pass is designed for all non-commercial vehicles equipped with a valid FASTag. It gets activated within two hours on the existing FASTag linked to the vehicle after a one-time fee payment through the Rajmargyatra App or the NHAI website.
The ministry emphasized that the increasing adoption of the FASTag Annual Pass underscores its success in facilitating seamless and cost-effective travel on National Highways throughout the country. The annual pass has transformed unpredictable monthly toll expenses into a fixed, hassle-free cost, providing daily commuters with certainty, savings, and smoother travel year-round, without the need for constant FASTag recharges.
