A man and his young daughter tragically lost their lives in a road accident in Bihar’s Muzaffarpur district. The incident took place near Kacchi Pakki Chowk under the Sadar police station area when a speeding truck collided with their motorcycle from behind. The victims, identified as Shrikant Rai (45) and his daughter Astha Kumari (17), were residents of the Maniari police station area.
Eyewitnesses reported that the truck, traveling at high speed, lost control and struck the motorcycle with great force as it approached Kacchi Pakki Chowk around 2:30 p.m. The impact was so intense that both the motorcycle and its riders were crushed under the truck, leading to their immediate demise at the scene. Following the accident, a large crowd gathered, and the Sadar police team promptly arrived after being informed.
Sadar Station House Officer Ashmit Kumar confirmed that the bodies were taken for post-mortem examination at Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH). The truck driver fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle, which has since been seized by the police. Authorities are reviewing nearby CCTV footage to apprehend the driver swiftly. An FIR for rash and negligent driving has been lodged at the Sadar police station.
The tragic news has cast a shadow of sorrow over Maniari village, where the family resided. The community mourns the sudden loss of the father and daughter, with grief echoing throughout the village. Local residents have expressed profound sadness over the incident and called for stricter measures to regulate the speed of heavy vehicles and prevent similar tragedies in the future.
