The Fencing Association of India (FAI) is set to introduce India’s inaugural auction-based Indian Fencing League. Under the theme “One Sport, One League, One Nation,” FAI has initiated the Expression of Interest (EOI) phase, allowing stakeholders to acquire franchise ownership until May 30, 2026. The league’s debut will feature a franchise-based competition in the Senior Men’s category across Epee, Foil, and Sabre events adhering to FAI regulations.
Interested parties, including individuals, companies, and institutions, are encouraged to participate in the league’s formation. By owning a franchise through the EOI process, stakeholders can contribute to the sport’s growth and be part of the Premier League. The FAI official emphasized the league’s role in providing a structured pathway for athletes to progress from grassroots to international competitions, aiming to elevate the sport’s popularity through sponsorships, media coverage, and public engagement.
The Indian Fencing League aims to revolutionize the sport in the country by offering emerging athletes a professional platform to exhibit their talents and compete at various levels. This strategic move is envisioned to enhance India’s global sporting performance and foster a brighter future for fencing nationally. The official highlighted that the ongoing phase focuses on inviting EOIs to identify potential franchise owners while ensuring compliance with set criteria during the selection process.
Plans are underway to extend similar platforms to various categories and age groups, with the overarching goal of propelling Indian fencing onto the international stage. By expanding accessibility and appeal, especially among the youth, the initiative seeks to popularize fencing in untapped regions across the country.
