A heated exchange unfolded between the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) regarding alleged corruption in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and infrastructure issues in Mumbai and Maharashtra. Mumbai BJP chief Amit Satam accused the MNS and Shiv Sena of exploiting the BMC for 25 years, sparking strong reactions. In response, MNS workers staged protests, including one near Chembur Station where they symbolically targeted Satam.
Senior MNS leader Bala Nandgaonkar retaliated against the BJP, criticizing Satam and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde for the state of the Mumbai-Pune Missing Link Expressway. Nandgaonkar highlighted rushed project completion before elections and urged accountability for failures. MNS criticized the BJP-led government for the expressway’s recent standstill due to a landslide, questioning the lack of precautionary measures in a landslide-prone area.
Nandgaonkar called for an immediate audit of trees in Mumbai following incidents of trees falling, stressing the importance of thorough pre-monsoon preparations. He condemned Satam’s behavior as a display of power arrogance and demanded his removal. Nandgaonkar cautioned against disrespect towards leaders like Raj Thackeray and emphasized the need for decorum in public discourse.
